Growing up as a child, your parents taught you right from wrong.
Growing up as a child, your parents taught you right from wrong. They were the first to teach you your ABCs, numbers, and prayers. They instilled in you moral values, and to practice pleasantries such as please, thank you, and to respond to adults with yes ma'am/sir and no ma'am/sir.
As you grew older, you began to make your own decisions. Sometimes what your parents taught you came to your rememberance before you acted, but many times, it didn't. Oh the joys of free will; however, with free will comes consequences for your actions.
Not every decision we make in life is the best decision. Sometimes we veer off course and lose our way. We experience pitfalls, heartache, calamity and despair, but praise be to God that just because we lose our way and go through trials and tribulations, doesn't mean that we're lost forever.
Proverbs 22:6 says, "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it". When we find ourselves off track, may we be reminded to go to God's word. In God's word we find instruction, refuge, healing, provision, love, forgiveness and redemption.
Amen for all the things, but in particular: instruction and guidance. Proverbs 22 goes on to say, "Pay attention and turn your ear to the sayings of the wise; apply your heart to what I teach, for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips. So that your trust may be in the Lord, I teach you today, even you".
Don't you want to live a life that's pleasing to God? I know I do; even in adulthood, He is still teaching and revealing things to us today. He wants us to have the right decision in our hearts, so it flows out our lips when presented with options to choose from.
Let us pay attention, put our trust in the Lord and make the right choice.
